Your first reading

  1. Open a normal HTTP/HTTPS article and click the ReadBoard toolbar icon.
  2. Choose Preview article. Inspect the extracted text, adjust the title, then Save & read or Save to queue.
  3. If extraction is incomplete, discard the preview. Select the useful text on the page and use Save selected excerpt.
  4. Select text in the reader, or enter an exact quote and occurrence number in the keyboard quote finder. Add your note and save the highlight.
  5. Export the article, just its notes or a complete JSON backup. Back up before uninstalling or changing Chrome profiles.

Limits

Free: 30 readings. Maximum 256 KiB per saved article including notes and 100 MiB for the serialized dataset. Browser disk quota may impose a lower limit. Text only: images, original formatting, interactive widgets and remote resources are omitted. PDFs, restricted Chrome pages, protected content and paywall bypass are unsupported. A saved snapshot does not change when its source changes; a different snapshot is a new version.

Backups

Merge validates the complete file and rejects conflicting IDs. Replacement requires a downloaded recovery copy, confirmation that you saved it, and a final confirmation. Existing data remains intact when validation or the transaction fails. Restored data above the Free count stays readable and exportable.
